From the first moment Sandra Prieto stepped into a kitchen, she knew a career in the culinary world was meant for her. Born and raised in Cuba, she originally earned her degree in Computer Science, but the culinary world came calling when she landed a job as a line cook at Zuma Miami. There, she developed her skills cooking alongside chefs Michael Lewis and Raheem Sealy, now of KYU, before eventually joining the KYU team herself as sous chef.
As a chef, Sandra is influenced by her many travels to destinations like Italy and the Dominican Republic but enjoys Japanese cuisine the most. Outside of travel, Sandra is inspired by her parents, her wife and the KYU family who encourages her career growth every day. When she’s not in the kitchen Sandra enjoys playing sports, traveling and spending time with her family.
